KICKSTART Round 2!

The Alpha Omega team is back at it and were back on KICKSTARTER! Here is the link! We lowered the amount that were trying to fund this time around but kept the same great pledge gifts, give them a look. Just to sum up about the pilot were trying to create, it is called the ARMSmaster Project. The project it self has been getting worked on a little over 5 years now. It started off as a great idea by Mike Winn, that he turned into his Senior Thesis. After college he ask a few of us to jump on board and try to developed into a full blown TV show. We all jumped at the opportunity to say the least. With a world filled with magic, mystery, and adventure who wouldn't? Now with a pitch bible complete and more opportunities knocking on our door, were trying to create a episode pilot to help pitch the show. If you go to the page, blog, or website, you'll see tons of great art we have created along the years along with a 30 sec teaser trailer that we finished up a year ago.

Take a look, spread the word, and all that fun stuff. Thanks for the support!

This is another test I've been working on. The audio is from Iron Man 2 and I used the Morpheus Rig. It was a really nice rig that was very customizable, I highly recommended it. It was a lot of fun animating this test and trying to really sell the performance. I can't wait to take what I learn on this test and use it on the next one!

Elephant Walking Test

Elephant Walking Test from Tim Kafantaris on Vimeo.

Besides working the day job, I've been spending the last few months working on animation tests, redoing my portfolio, and reworking my website. This is a test I did to work on my quadruped skills. The rig worked great, with a minor issue with the front legs. They should be able to break at the ankles to walk correctly, Here is the link for the rig.

Piranha 3DD came out earlier this month and I had a chance to do some animation on it at a local studio called SpeedShape. We did around 20-30 shots of the movie that included animation and other vfx as well. It was great to do some feature film animation, and finally be able to see it on the big screen! I worked on a couple other movies and did a process call Rotomation were we had to take a cg model and animated over the plate, but since only the animation depth was use for the stereo conversion you couldn't really see it.....unless you put on 3D Glasses.

Motor City Comic Con Weekend

Motor City Comic Con 2012 was a blast! All 3 days were very busy, especially Saturday.  It was great to see how many people came over to the Alpha Omega table and show tons of support for The ARMSmaster Project! On top of that we were busy doing commission sketches, and selling prints :)

Besides the comic stuff, there were plenty of panels happening all day at the con, and I believe maybe for the first time, a wrestling match! Motor City Comic Con 2012 had it all apparently :). Cant wait for next year. Be sure to check us out at Detroit Fanfare later this year.

Motor City Comic Con 2012!!!

I'm getting together some last minute things for Motor City Comic Con this weekend. Myself and some of Alpha Omega members will be there all three days. Come check us out in Artist Alley. We will be promoting the company, ARMSmasters, and selling our own work as well.

I've been busy freelancing for a couple of different companies but the last four months between jobs and after work hours, I have been spending time trying to make art pieces together for the con and my own personal portfolio. I'll try posting a few up on the blog to show what I have been up to.

This first sketch is of Red Hood from DC comics. Ever since the new 52 started I have been following Red Hood & The Outlaws series. The story line is great and the art is amazing! Check it out if you get a minute.

More to come,

-Tim
