Background Progress

This past week or so I started to work on the background for the illustration. I drew a very rough sketch in Photoshop to give me an idea for placement and then proceeded to print it out and go over it with a pencil. I still draw detail better by traditional means then digital. Once I had the plants, rocks, water, ect drawn I went over the them with a sharpie. I still have the far background to work on but the front should be all set. Once all that is set I'll scan it in and clean it up in Photoshop. Thanks for stopping by,

Captain Update

This pass week I went back and redrew the Captain. Here is one of the faces I drew trying to find the over all feel I wanted to get across. The new pose I drew him in, which I will post soon, works better over all and helps direct the viewer eye better I think. I started on some of the other characters, along with adding detail to the background as well this pass week. I hope to post more progress soon! Thanks for stopping by,

Reworking

After trying to switch around the composition to make it flow better, I decided to rework the Captain. The way he was drawn and place before would have not drawn the viewer eyes towards the composition, but away from it. Mostly because of his stance and and the way he was looking. I still have to draw the head and hand, but its coming along smoothly.

Pirate Henchman 1

I'm still working on this pirate theme illustration with plenty to go! Its going really good so far. Here is another character from it.  I started with a rough sketch that you can still see underneath the tied down orange line work. Tied Down meaning going over the rough sketch and refining it better. Whether its adding some detail to the drawing, adding more definition to body parts like fingers, or even deciding what lines your keeping and which ones your getting rid of. After this, I'll bring it into Photoshop and clean it up with a final black line.

Thanks for stopping by.
